Guide:Fishing

In Growtopia, fishing can be done by using bait on water while equipping a Fishing Rod. The result from fishing can either be Fish or some random items that are obtainable through fishing.

In order to fish, any Fishing Rod must be equipped. Players can only fish from one block radius of any placed Water Bucket. In order to start fishing, any bait is to be consumed onto the placed Water Bucket and the player will begin fishing. When there is a splash of water, this means that the rod has caught an item and upon clicking on it, the fished item will go straight to the player's backpack.

If a player moves or clicks at the incorrect time, their bait will be lost. The player must click roughly when they see a water splash, otherwise, the fish will go away. If a player misses a splash, after some time, there will be another splash and the player can catch fish again.

The Gone Fishin'! update which was added on January 14, 2018 introduced two new environments which could be fished in (previously being just water). They are ice environments and radioactive environments. These new environments must be created in order to be fished in.

Radioactive Environment: Made by using a Nuclear Detonator on a Uranium Block with a Water Bucket over it.
Ice Environments: Made by using a Hand Drill on an Ice Crust Block with a Water Bucket over it.

Baits

Baits are one-time consumables and different baits may yield different fish or size of fish.

The different types of baits are:

Otherworldly Bait	1 may be obtained from sacrificing: •    Candy Cane Bait •    Whizmo Gizmo •    Dark King's Offering to Growganoth during Halloween Week.
Candy Cane Bait	1 can be obtained by harvesting a Giving Tree when it is 20%-24% or 60%-69%.

Role Up

The Role Up! update was released on September 17, 2018, introducing roles that can be completed through quests, including one for fishing. The following are the quests that can be encountered as part of the Fishing role quests:

• Submit X of a certain type of bait.
• Catch 200lbs of Fish
• Catch 150lbs of a certain fish.
• Submit 50 of a certain fishing related item.

Angler's Almanac is the Fishing Role bonus that can be leveled up as the player progresses their roles.

• Level 2: 0.5% increase in the size of catch when Fishing and fish growth when training.
• Level 4: 1% increase in the size of catch when Fishing and fish growth when training.
• Level 6: 1.5% increase in the size of catch when Fishing and fish growth when training.
• Level 8: 2% increase in the size of catch when Fishing and fish growth when training.
• Level 10: 3% increase in size of catch when Fishing and fish growth when training.
• Level 10: Unique Fisherman's Flag and skin.

The following rewards are earned/unlocked as the player levels up their Fishing Role:

Primordial Ooze	Has a chance of being obtained from Fishing in a Radioactive Environment after reaching Fishing Level 4.
Sea Sponge	Has a chance of being obtained from Fishing with a Salmon Eggs after reaching Fishing Level 5.
Oil Slick	Has a chance of being obtained from Fishing with a Fishing Fly after reaching Fishing Level 6.
Naval Mine	Has a chance of being obtained from Fishing with a Fishing Fly after reaching Fishing Level 7.
Fishing Dinghy	Reach Fishing Level 8.
Mint	Has a chance of being obtained from Fishing with a Shrimp Lure after reaching Fishing Level 9.
Quantum Starfish	Has a chance of being obtained from Fishing in a Ice Environment after reaching Fishing Level 10.

During a Fishing Day, the points from completing a Fishing role quest is increased by 25%. Completing a quest for the first time on that day will reward a Growtoken.

Achievements
