The Grand Tournament

December 1st: The Grand Tournament hath arrived! The Grand Tournament has come to Growtopia! This pet battle tournament runs for 5 days, on the 7th of every month. Head to the world TOURNAMENT now, to buy your tickets before it begins! This event is mostly for pet battlers, but once the Tournament comes to town, there are also fun and prizes for spectators! We've also tweaked pet battles a bit: there's a new Daily Challenge, more powerful skills take a while to become available when a match begins, and long matches are forced to an end. You've got 6 days until the tournament.. start training!

The Grand Tournament is a pet battle tournament which was added in the game on 1st December 2016. The Grand Tournament update was December's monthly update, as well as the year's final monthly update, apart from WinterFest. The tournament runs for 5 days and occurs on the 7th of every month.

Entering the Tournament

A Tournament Ticket is required to enter the tournament. It can be bought from Master Peng in the world TOURNAMENT for 10,000 Gems. The Tournament Ticket will self-destruct whenever the tournament ends.

Tournament System

When a player who has defeated a player in the world TOURNAMENT during The Grand Tournament, he/she will automatically receive a Tourney Token and their tournament rankings rises. They can be used to redeem prizes in the Prize Ladder. By inserting the token in the ladder, there is a chance that the player would either receive one of the two prizes, or lose all the tokens that the player had put in. He/she could also choose to climb into the next level, which may gives a better prize, although it is quite luck-based. There are 15 levels of the Prize Ladder. A player is limited to 20 tokens from the wins every day.

PATCH : During 8th November 2016, the Developer patched the forfeit system, in which if two players pet battles each other, and one respawns. The one remaining will no longer increase in Tournament rankings, while the respawned will receive a big loss in Tournament rankings

NOTE : IF you are caught cheating (asking friends to respawn or using alternate accounts), you will be permanently banned from the tournament.

Tournament Prizes

When the tournament ends, the top 10 win a prize.

The prizes are directly proportional to the number of Tournament Tickets sold. 75% of each ticket price goes into the prize pool.

Master Peng

Master Peng is an NPC in the world TOURNAMENT. Before the Grand Tournament, he sells Tournament tickets for 10.000 gems each, of which 75% goes to the prize pool. You can wrench him to check the leaderboard of the tournament during the Grand Tournament. His name - Peng Nguyen, is most likely a reference to what he looks like, a penguin.

Snack-Fu

Snack-Fu or Master Ping is an NPC in the world TOURNAMENT. Their appearance is similar to Master Peng, a penguin. They are also behind a stall. Wrenching Master Ping/Snack-Fu will lead you to an interface in which you can buy snacks from Snack-Fu/Master Ping.

Snacks

Snacks can be bought in the world TOURNAMENT from Snack-Fu/Master Ping during the Grand Tournament. Snacks rarely can have prizes in them. Higher costs snacks have higher chance to give prizes. The snacks are :

1. Pow Stones

Pow Stones can be bought from Snack Fu/Master Ping for 50 gems. It has the lowest chance to yield a prize, also, it costs the lowest out of all snacks. Eating the Pow Stones will generate colorful crackles around the player that eat it.

Warning : Eating Pow Stones with Ramune will make you respawn.

2. Popcorn

Popcorn can be bought from Snack Fu/Master Ping for 100 gems. Eating it will trigger an animation in which the player who eat it holds the popcorn and begin munching on it rapidly.

3. Ramune

Ramune can be bought from Snack Fu/Master Ping for 500 gems.

Warning : Eating Pow Stones with Ramune will make you respawn.

4. Wasabi Peas

Wasabi Peas can be bought from Snack Fu/Master Ping for 2000 gems.

Daily Challenge

During the Tournament, The Battlers Beatdown challenge will replace all Daily Challenges during the Grand Tournament, in which you have to defeat as many pet trainers as possible. 1 Pet Trainers defeated +1pts.

The Prize for the Daily Challenge are:

The 1st Place winner will receive Challenge Crown, Challenge Board and a Pet Fox.

The 2nd Place winner will receive Challenge Board and a Pet Fox.

The 3rd Place winner will receive Challenge Board and a Pet Fox.
