The Mining Explosives is an explosive item which was added as a part of the Spelunkorama Strikes Back! update.

After the block is placed, if it is punched, it will explode, breaking the 8 blocks surrounding it (and kill everyone in its range). The explosion also breaks all background blocks.
Mining Explosives is needed to break Pure Magic Ores to get Magic Ores.
Also Mining Explosives was used to duplicate items at early stages after the duplication glich was removed.
