In Growtopia, fishing can be done by using bait on water while holding a Fishing Rod. The result from fishing can either be Fish or some random items that are obtainable through fishing.

In order to fish, any Fishing Rod must be equipped. Players can only fish from one block radius of any Water Bucket. In order to start fishing, any bait is to be consumed onto the Water Bucket and the player will begin fishing. When there is a splash of water, this means that the rod has caught an item and upon clicking on it, the fished item will go straight to the player's backpack.

If a player moves or clicks at the incorrect time, their bait will be lost. The player must click roughly when they see a water splash, otherwise, the fish will go away. If a player misses a splash, after some time, there will be another splash and the player can catch fish again.

Baits

Baits are one-time consumables and different baits may yield different fish or size of fish.

The different types of baits are:

Shiny Flashy Thing	Can drop from Tackle Box or by fishing using a Wiggly Worm.
Salmon Eggs	Can drop from Tackle Box or by fishing using a Shiny Flashy Thing.
Fishing Fly	Can drop from Tackle Box or by fishing using Salmon Eggs.
Shrimp Lure	Can drop from Tackle Box or by fishing using a Fishing Fly.
Whizmo Gizmo	Fishing using a Shrimp Lure.
Catch-of-the-Day Bait	Sewing Template:ItemSprite Silk Bolt - Red + Template:ItemSprite Silk Bolt - Grey (Locking Stitch) + Template:ItemSprite Silk Bolt - Black (Saddle Stitch)
Otherworldly Bait	Sacrificing a Whizmo Gizmo into the maw of Growganoth.
Minor Otherworldly Bait	Sacrificing a Wiggly Worm, a Shiny Flashy Thing or Salmon Eggs into the maw of Growganoth.
Lesser Otherworldly Bait	Sacrificing a Fishing Fly or a Shrimp Lure into the maw of Growganoth.
Candy Cane Bait	Harvesting a Giving Tree when it is 20%-29% or 60%-69%.
Uranium Glowing Lure	Drops from a Tackle Box or consume x10 Large Radioactive Bit / x25 Small Radioactive Bit / x50 Tiny Radioactive Bit
Mega-Pellet Bait	Drops from a Tackle Box or consume x10 Large Frozen Chunk / x25 Small Frozen Chunk / x50 Tiny Frozen Chunk

Fishing Rods

Different types of fishing rods can have an impact on what is caught.

Cursed Fishing Rod	Sacrificing a Goldenrod into the maw of Growganoth.	Random effect such as larger fish, automatically respawning or getting sent to Growganoth.
Delicate Anomarod	Combining 50 Red Wood Walls, 60 Steel Blocks, and 2 Fishing Rods in any Chemical Combiner.	Earns the player points in the Fishing Fanatics Grow Event.
Pristine Anomarod	Purchasable from the store for 5,000 gems.	Earns the player points in the Fishing Fanatics Grow Event.
Exquisite Anomarod	Combining 10 Pristine Anomarods, 5 Steel Blocks, and 5 Golden Blocks in any Chemical Combiner.	Earns the player points in the Fishing Fanatics Grow Event.
Elegant Anomarod	Craftable after reaching Builder Level 7.	Earns the player points in the Fishing Fanatics Grow Event.
