This background was added with the Spelunkorama! update, which was following Cinco de Mayo 2016. It will provide darkness and hide every block above it, unless you are close to it or using a Flashlight or a Hand Torch. Cave Crystals and Torches will also provide light. It can be found in Cave Blasted worlds.
Dark Cave Backgrounds can be used for scamming, beware, always hold a flashlight or a hand torch!
