This background was added with the Spelunkorama! update. It will provide darkness and hide every block above it, unless you are close to it or using a Flashlight, Phoenix Crown, or a Hand Torch. Cave Crystals and Torches will also provide light. It can also be found in Cave Blasted worlds.
