It was added on 2 September 2016. It is used to call a NPC, for example, Crazy Jim and the Operator. Telephones cannot be used during an apocalypse as of the Night of the Sewing Dead update.

During the apocalypse, the telephone reads: "All you hear is a eerie buzzing sounds. Guess telephones don't work during an apocalypse."
