KYDERBY/2013
Although the Kentucky Derby event—based on an annual real-life horse race with the same name—would not be officially launched until 2014, former moderator Aimster had been hosting small racing events from time to time in the world KYDERBY since as early as May 2013.
Aimster was first inspired to build KYDERBY while she was attending the real-life Kentucky Derby with her friends and family.[1][2] The idea was to create a world which would introduce what the Kentucky Derby is, several facts related to the racing event, and a section that would separate "jockeys", or players with horses (at that time, only the Tiny Horsie was available) from those without.
Once 20 "jockeys" had arrived at the starting line, the race could then be begun. The racing track was designed as a simple maze that would be easy to navigate by players and would not contain any hazards that might kill them, unlike a typical parkour world. The top three finishers would be given Roses, alluding to how the flower had become synonymous with the real-life event.[3] The Mint Julep had yet been conceived as an exclusive prize.
KYDERBY later won a World Of The Day in June 2013.[4] It was the 30th world to win the award.
