Polished Fossil is an unsplicable consumable item which was released on the 8th of October 2016 as part of the Growassic Park update.

It is obtainable from Fossil Rocks which can be found randomly on Rocks, and then extracting it using a Rock Hammer and Rock Chisel, followed by using a Fossil Brush on the dropped Fossil to turn it into a Polished Fossil. Polished Fossils gives better drops when used in a Fossil Prep Station, compared to regular Fossils.

Trivia

• A Fossil which has already been picked up cannot be turned into a Polished Fossil.
• Contrary to popular belief, Rocks do not turn into Fossil Rocks based on the number of players in a world. The generation rate of Fossil Rocks is flat; whether there is one or 65 players in a world, the generation rate of Fossil Rocks is the same. This has been confirmed by @Hamumu himself, who said in a reply to a thread on the Growtopia Forums:
  • Doesn't matter how popular your world is, doesn't matter how many rocks you have in it (as long as you have at least 1...), doesn't matter how old or new it is, doesn't matter the rating, doesn't matter what you have built in it, doesn't even matter how you have it locked (or IF you have it locked). EVERY WORLD is equally likely, provided it's currently loaded.
