The Roots update is a monthly update which was introduced on July 11, 2019. It introduced a new method of growing trees involving bountiful seeds and root cuttings, as well as a new blast, the Bountiful Blast.
Tutorial
Upon using a Bountiful Blast, naturally generated trees can be found inside the world. The possible trees that can be found are:
- Bountiful Bamboo Background Trees
- Bountiful Flowering Lattice Trees
- Bountiful Jungle Temple Trees
- Bountiful White Doll's Eyes Trees
Upon harvesting these trees, their respective items will drop. These blocks can then be broken to have a chance to drop their seeds. These seeds can then be planted on a Fertile Soil Block, a block that naturally spawns in Bountiful Blasted worlds.
Once the tree has fully grown, a root will appear in the Fertile Soil Block. The seed used will establish the type of roots that will be growing (e.g. a completed Bountiful Bamboo Background tree will create a Bountiful Bamboo Background Root). If the same seed is replanted onto the Fertile Soil Block and fully grows, the root will turn into a Level 1 Root (e.g. a Bountiful Bamboo Background Roots Level 1). The process can then be repeated, increasing the level by one each time until it reaches Level 5. At this point, it will be a mature root.
Upon harvesting a mature root, the respective Root Cutting will drop (e.g. a Bountiful Bamboo Background Root Cutting). These root cuttings can then be mixed into any Chemical Combiner to make other Bountiful items or to make clothing items. The other possible Bountiful items that can be turned into seeds and used on a Fertile Soil Block are:
- Bountiful Bamboo Ladder
- Bountiful Bamboo Platform
- Bountiful Bamboo Spikes
- Bountiful Climbing Hydrangea Lattice
- Bountiful Corpse Flower
- Bountiful Flowering Garland
- Bountiful Growtopian-Eating Looming Plant
- Bountiful Jungle Temple Background
- Bountiful Jungle Temple Door
- Bountiful Jungle Temple Pillar
- Bountiful Lattice Fence
- Bountiful Monkshood
